Zen Tarot
Aphieme (uh-fee-uh-me) has been practicing the art of reading the Tarot in Asheville since 2004. You know that cool weird car with the tent looking thing on the back and the word Tarot? A tree fell on that car long ago, a sign of the times to come for all to take note. That is Aphieme’s car which she inherited from some fellow artists.
The deck she works with is largely informed by Classical Tantra Yoga even though it is name the Osho Zen Tarot. Her background is in Asian Philosophy both academically and at the feet of lineage holders in both Tantra and Thai Buddhism (she speaks Thai), but in lieu of becoming a professor or a person of the cloth, she wanted to do something as deeply creative as it is helpful. When she first started working with the cards she knew what she had to do and spent a year solid every weekend and every full moon, every holiday, on the streets of Asheville learning to hold solid energetic space with the Tarot.
Aphieme is available both in-person and virtually for 1:1 readings as well as available to teach groups on-line how to read the Tarot yourself. Specializing in working with sexuality as it pertains to body, home, money, and life purpose, her passion is to support healing of our relationship to the land and each other. Whether you have worked with Aphieme before or you would like to book a reading for the first time, her website is: www.zentarotasheville.com There is an easy booking link on the first page, virtual readings are especially appreciated through the winter.
Impact from Helene: I lost my job overnight. I have been holding space for readings for 7 years now at the Earthmagick shop on Lexington Ave next to Dobra teahouse where I encounter many tourists who are “walk-in” traffic. All of them are gone and the shop is closed permanently. I also have Google traffic to my website, but all people searching for “Tarot Readings in Asheville” are not coming to town. I literally lost my job overnight.
The ask: At this time I would most love to host online group sessions where people can learn how to begin working with the deck I use themselves. I would like to use recordings from these sessions to then make mini-courses for people that serve as a foundation for deeper in-person workshops and face to face readings. I need some start up money to hire a videographer, video-editor, re-design my website, pay for marketing to get the courses and events promoted, learn how to use quick books since I hope to be making more money, and generally be able to pay rent and relax so I can be in creator mode instead of fight or flight. Booking 1:1 sessions to learn how to begin working with the Tarot yourself, gathering a group of friends to all learn together and approaching me with that, or sending donations would be the most helpful things to do. I am also open to potent advice (please only if you think it’s something I haven’t already considered 🧡)
