Jennifer Murphy
I am an artist, writer, gardener, teacher, and communitarian, based in Asheville since 2008. I’m involved in many creative community projects: founder and member of Street Creature Puppet Collective; on the board of the local Fringe Festival; a volunteer with 12 Baskets Cafe, and more. I try to create things I wish existed everyday.
As an artist I work in a variety of materials including paper mache, collage, fabric, watercolor, mosaic, concrete and most recently, ceramics and willow. I create puppetry, installations and garden art. I have a BFA from California Institute of the Arts and a certificate in permaculture design.
Impact from Helene: All of my inventory of mosaics, concrete and ceramic sculpture, and cardboard collage displayed at the Art Garden Gallery in the RAD was lost to the waters. All of the puppetry gigs and projects I was scheduled to do were cancelled or postponed to 2025.
