Amelia Mae's Handcrafts
Amelia Mae is a musician, maker, carpenter, living an artist’s life in Asheville NC. Amelia makes hand dipped beeswax taper candles from local WNC beeswax and recently made black walnut candle holders out of a tree that fell on her roof.
She plays cello, guitar, and sings folk music. Young Joan Baez and Big Thief have heavily informed her musical reality.
Making and creating with her hands is very fulfilling and a deep spiritual practice of attunement, contributing to her world around her. Amelia has lived in WNC for 7 years and feels deeply rooted in community.
Impact from Helene: I have been displaced-my yome (cross between a geodesic dome and yurt) was crushed by several trees. Some of my precious things were destroyed. I bought a new roof and need to install it as well as repair the crushed yome sidewalls and roof poles. My woodstove piping also got crushed. I have been out of work ever since Helene, big financial loss. This entire event has been life altering.
The ask: Would love to be hired to play beautiful music for the people and sell my candles to y’all. Beeswax candles are 8” burn for 8 hr each. Sold in pairs $14/pair or 3 for $33, 4 for $44, 5 for $55 etc etc. My candles make beautiful light filled gifts.
